Feisty Unplugged: R.I.P Troy Davis

(I never posted this- I meant to the day after Troy Davis’ execution)

I went to bed last night, with an extremely heavy heart, after actively watching CNN to get the final word on Troy Davis’ execution.  By no means am I heavily into politics or anything of the sort; I am actually very ignorant of many aspects of law.  I have been aware of Troy Davis’ cases for a couple years- I think it was back in like 2007 or 2008 when his appeal for the death penalty was accepted again when it was on the news.  Three to fours years later, I am disturbed more than ever.  By no means am I saying, or know at all, if Troy Davis is truly innocent.  Though 7 of the 9 witness who testified against him retracted their statement, and there is absolutely no evidence against him, we don’t know, at least right now, if he is truly guilty, or truly innocent.

When Casey Anthony’s case first arose a few years ago, I was absolutely disgusted that a woman (who I don’t KNOW, again, if she is innocent or guilty- but I absolutely 100% BELIEVE she killed her daughter) could kill her own daughter, and lie about it continuously throughout her case.  There is somewhat some real evidence that exists, just not enough in “the court of law”.  This women gets off free.  This man, that has no evidence against him, has the majority of the witness retract their statements, is now dead for a crime we have NO CLUE he committed.  I remember asking my more law-savvy friends if maybe there was some aspect of this that I wasn’t aware of, but there isn’t so that’s really the sad part.

At this point, people have so many questions, I can only imagine what his family is wondering/going through.  But at this point all we can do is hope whatever the truth is, it will come out one day. I have issues with the death penalty in general and really question it- and wonder if the family of the police officer REALLY felt some satisfaction because the alleged man who killed their family member died.  I don’t know, something seems so immoral about it all.  I just hope he is resting his peace, and both families will one day reach some sort of peace.  I hope this case will really change thoughts about keeping the death penalty, and I hope that justice will be served one day.

Feisty Unplugged: Don’t Worry So Much!

Maybe with age, I have learned to just not care what other people think. Of course as a typical high school student, I did…who doesn’t at that age? But as I am getting older, I am truly realizing…do YOU really matter? What are you doing for my life? As my mother would say…”Are you paying my bills?”

When I see my close friends so bothered by what someone may have said, or be worried all day about an opinion of someone from class, I always just say, maybe too bluntly, “Who cares?”  I guess everyone is different, but I believe if people really stopped worrying so much about other people’s opinions, the world would really be a nicer place, as cliche as that sounds.  I, of course, can’t sit here and say I 100% don’t care what people say/think, because that would completely be untrue.  BUT I do not sit and worry myself about that kind of thing- and trust me, I AM a worry wart.  There are people close to me that I definitely am concerned about how they view me- who wants to seem super negative or nasty to loved ones?  But I have realized my flaws are my flaws, I am me, and those people are going to love me regardless of those. I just wish more of the people around me could feel the same, but everyone is different.

This all came about after reading this article “Should You Care What People Think About You?” after having a brief discussion with a coworker about this subject. If you click the link, you will see there are a list of tips to help those who may worry a little to much to find a healthy balance. Take a look at it. It’s kind of interesting!

Feisty Unplugged: Kanye West > Jay-Z?

Is anyone else feeling as thought Watch The Throne may be a Kanye West album FEATURING Jay-Z? I don’t know, but for some reason I feel as though Kanye may have outshined his big brother on this album.  But I do feel as though Kanye may have done a little too much on some tracks. But, overall, it’s a dope album that paints PICTURES.  And to me, that is what an album should do.  Just a little tidbit on one of the most talked about albums.

What do you think? Did Kanye come harder than Jay-Z? Or do you think it was the other way around?

New Life Brings New Perspective!

New life is fascinating to me.  Since I am the baby of my ENTIRE family, I have never really had the opportunity to see someone through a pregnancy.  My little cousin was born two years ago, and he was the first member of my family that I had seen since birth, but him and his family moved all the way to the West Coast :(, so I am missing him grow up in a way.

My sister in law is now pregnant with my wittle precious nephew (she is just about a month out from her due date:)), my first nephew/niece, and it has been so crazy to see her through the stages of her pregnancy, and to feel the little guy in there, kicking and moving around.  It is really crazy how the human body works (dorky, I know), but to think that a LIFE can be inside a woman, just proves and really shows how amazing being a WOMAN is!  Women give LIFE.  So freaking beautiful.

I know this isn’t a new revelation, obviously, but have you really ever though of how amazing it is to be a woman?!

Being a woman can be so complicated, so painful, so ridiculously annoying, but the gift of giving life is above all of that.  Though I am in NO RUSH WHATSOEVER to be a mother, or to give life to someone, it just makes me eager to know what that day will be like (in the FAR FUTURE!) when I am able and ready to give life to my future son or daughter.

I say all this to say, it is pretty damn hard to be a woman. But, pretty damn amazing.

Latest rumors have the premier free agent on the market headed to Philly.
No, not a rehashed Cliff Lee story from last Winter. Multiple media reports have Nnamdi Asomugah headed to the Eagles.

So sad.  Check out images from Winehouse’s family visiting her memorial outside of her house, as well as what Amy Winehouse’s boyfriend had to say regarding the tragic death of his girlfriend here.  The British star’s funeral service is set for today in London.
